First Impressions: Lets start at the beginning with the packaging of the box. This is pretty much your standard E.L.F. design, but with a twist. The layout of the packaging is the same, however they have chosen to change from their standard black/white to blue/white packaging for the Aqua Beauty line. I like the change, and I think the blue/white design really helps to differentiate between their normal line and the Aqua Beauty line. ***** Also, I really like their decision to package these eye shadows in a tube with a wand, rather than a pot. All around it makes it less messy, easier to apply with the wand, and to pack in my bag for travel. ***** |
Now, E.L.F. promotes these liquid eye shadows as having a vibrant and metallic finish. Looking at the product in the bottle, I would more or less agree with that statement. However, once I swatched the product on my hand, it had more of a shimmery and iridescent look rather than metallic. As well, once I blended out the shadow with my finger, the pigment mostly disappeared and all I was left with was a faint pink shimmer.

Wear:
According to the E.L.F. website, they say you can wear the liquid eyes shadow alone on the eyelids or as a primer for powder shadows. So, naturally I decided to this shadow both ways.
*****
Alone:
As I wanted to try this product on its own, I did not apply any sort of primer or base to my eyelids beforehand. On its own, the shadow applied like a normal liquid eye shadow would, wet but not runny. The wand transferred a nice amount of product in one to two swipes, and it looked really pigmented. Now, because it is a liquid eye shadow, I had to move quickly to blend and adjust the product before it dried. I found using my finger tip to blend out the product the best way, as when I used a blending brush too much of the product transferred to the brush and I had to reapply more of the eye shadow to get the pigmentation back. The eye shadow dried down with a few minutes, and so long as I did not overly blend out the product the rose colour remained apparent and beautiful.
For the price, I am definitely surprised how well this liquid eye shadow worked on its own.

| First Impressions: Lets just take a moment to appreciate how stinking cute the packaging is for the Butter line of products by Physicians Formula. The Butter Blushes look like the cute little sisters of the bigger and more popular Butter Bronzers. It is as if these little blushes are trying their hardest to grab your attention, gain your love and then have you invite them out to play as well! I just love the look of them and really hope Physicians Formula will consider expanding the range of this line in the future. ***** |
Similar to the Butter Bronzers, there are two shades widely available in the Butter Blush line (I believe they are developing new blush shades, but not sure when they will be available in the stores). The first being called Natural Glow, that is more of a pink/gold shimmery shade. While the second, and the one I purchased, called Plum Rose, a darker pink/plum shade that is more on the matte side, but with a slight luminous effect. These blushes are suppose to give the appearance of a more natural glow, rather than a full vibrant pop of colour to the cheeks. They also have that amazing tropical coconut scent, that is noticeable but not overpowering. Honestly, the smell of these products get me every time, I just adore them.

Review
I discovered the N.Y.C. Smooth Skin Perfecting Primer when I was doing some research online about the top rated drugstore primers under $20. I wasn't impressed with the last two primers I had tried, and was on the hunt for a new one that would meet my needs and wouldn't break my bank account. This primer was mentioned in quite a few of the articles and blogs I had read about must try items at the drugstore, so I decided to give it a whirl.
*****
First Impressions:
When I first squeezed out the primer from the bottle, I noticed that it was runnier than I had first expected. More of a lotion consistency rather than a primer, and I ended up with more product than I needed. Honestly, a quarter size amount or smaller is all you really need of this product to cover the entirety of the face.
The product itself is a white colour with lots of shimmer. There is no mistaking that this primer will leave your skin with a luminous or dewy finish. When you blend out the product, the white colour appears to become transparent (more on this later), but the shimmer becomes a bit overwhelming, so much so that there is no hiding how reflective this product settles on the skin.
Now, I didn't really notice any strong scents coming from the tube after I opened it. However, once I had the product on my hand and started applying it to my face, I could immediately detect a strong odour. It is an odd smell too, almost like a combination of baby power, soap and a lotion my grandmother might have worn. At first it seems like a mild scent, but after spreading it out on my skin, it really started to build and become quite noticeable. Honestly, the more I had to smell this product, the more I grew to dislike it. After a while, the smell became so strong, that I was counting down the minutes before I could take it off.
