Review
| First Impressions: Lets just take a moment to appreciate how stinking cute the packaging is for the Butter line of products by Physicians Formula. The Butter Blushes look like the cute little sisters of the bigger and more popular Butter Bronzers. It is as if these little blushes are trying their hardest to grab your attention, gain your love and then have you invite them out to play as well! I just love the look of them and really hope Physicians Formula will consider expanding the range of this line in the future. ***** |
Similar to the Butter Bronzers, there are two shades widely available in the Butter Blush line (I believe they are developing new blush shades, but not sure when they will be available in the stores). The first being called Natural Glow, that is more of a pink/gold shimmery shade. While the second, and the one I purchased, called Plum Rose, a darker pink/plum shade that is more on the matte side, but with a slight luminous effect. These blushes are suppose to give the appearance of a more natural glow, rather than a full vibrant pop of colour to the cheeks. They also have that amazing tropical coconut scent, that is noticeable but not overpowering. Honestly, the smell of these products get me every time, I just adore them.

Swatch Test:
When I first ran my finger over the blush, it felt smooth and creamy just like the Butter Bronzer. The product transferred to my finger very easily, however I was worried that the shade wouldn't show up on my skin tone (which is light/medium in the winter months). Even though Plum Rose is the darker of the two shades of blushes, I would definitely categorize it as a light plum/rose shade, which would be ideal for fair to light skin tones, but might not work for anyone who falls on the medium to darker scale of skin tones. ***** When I first swatched this blush on my arm, one swipe barely left any visible signs of the product. It looked like there was the faintest bit of colour, but not nearly enough to even create a natural blushing effect. However, once I started to build up the product, by applying multiple applications of the blush, it really started to come together with this beautiful light cool-toned rosey plum shade. | Left: One application (one swipe of the product) Right: Multiple applications (believe this was 4-5 swipes of the product) |

Wear:
It has now been about two weeks since I first tried this blush on my cheeks. I have to say since then this has now become my favorite blush to wear on an everyday basis. For me, this blush applies so much nicer to my face than it does when I swatch it on my arm or hand. Now I still have to apply the product multiple times before I get any sort of colour on my cheeks, but I really don't mind that. The pay off of the numerous applications is this beautiful natural hint of colour, that is not loud or obnoxious but rather light and pretty. Then there is the slightest shimmer to it that gives you a faint looking radiance to your cheeks, that takes away the dullness and makes the skin look healthy.
At no point, whether I wore the blush for a full-day or a couple of hours, did it make my skin feel heavy or irritated. There was minimal fading throughout the day and it really did provide me with that flattering pop of natural colour, perfect for going to work or just going about your everyday activities.

Yay or Nay?
As much as I love the Butter Blush right now (beginning of April), I know once the summer months come along this blush will probably be put back in my makeup cupboard, just like the Butter Bronzer. Once my skin starts to darken and tan, this blush will just be too light for me. It will disappear and hardly any of the light plum/rose pigment will appear on my skin. It is such a shame because this product, the whole line of Butter products really, would be perfect for the summer months with their tropical scent and natural glowing effects. Hopefully, Physicians Formula will expanded the Butter Bronzer and Blush lines to further incorporate shades to compliment all the various skin tones.

Even with the the disappointment of only having two blush shades widely available in stores, I would still have to give this product a YAY! For anyone with fair to light/medium skin tones, this product should work well for you.
This blush is so creamy, applies to effortlessly to the face and provides such a wonderful radiant and natural healthy pop of colour, that I cannot possibly say no to it!
