Review
First Impressions:
The packaging of this product alone is enough, at least for me, to be drawn to it every time I walk by a Physicians Formula display at the store. The bright and vibrant colours on the packaging grab your attention, and immediately whisk you away to the memory of a hot summer day, somewhere on a tropical island, just lying on the beach soaking up the sun. For me, that alone is enough to make me lust after this product, especially during the gloomy winter months.
For a long period of time, I have wanted to try the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, but the price tag on this product held me back. It's not cheap by any means, especially for a drug store product. This single bronzer can run anywhere from $13.00 upwards to $21.00 depending on where you decide to purchase it from. Plus, with only two shades available in the Butter Bronzer line, I stalled buying this product as long as I could.
One day, I finally gave in! I put on my big girls pants, went down to the store and bought this product; which put me back a whopping $19.99, which was the best price tag I could find in my area for this particular bronzer.

The Scent:
As odd as it may sound, this bronzer smells like a combination of a piña colada drink and a day at the beach. With hints of coconut mixed in, it smells like a tropical dream.
Now the scent is stronger when you put your nose right up to the pan, but very subtle to non-existent when you apply it to the face. I was secretly hoping when I applied this product to my face that the scent would transfer, so I could smell like a delicious tropical bronze goddess all day, but alas it did not. In the grand scheme of things, that is a good thing, as no one really wants to wear a highly fragrant makeup product throughout the day.

Swatch and Wear:
This product looks like a powder, but to the touch feels just like a cream. My finger literally just glided across the surface of the product when I did my first swatch. It felt smooth, buttery, creamy and even nourishing, which are amazing qualities for a powder bronzer.
When I swatched the product on my finger there was a nice amount of transfer, and it was the exact same when I used a brush to pick it up. The product applied so smoothly to my face and honestly felt like it just melted into my skin. Now, one application of the bronzer did provide a natural looking finish, but the product can be built up to intensify the shade for a more defined look. This bronzer has a matte look to it, but also has a slight shimmer to it that makes the skin glow, but nothing over the top. It really does project the essence of a summer glow on the face.
*****
Shades:
With only two shades available in the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer line, this product is not a universal bronzer for every skin tone. The Light Bronzer shade would possibly only work for people with fair to light skin tones, as it is a very light bronze colour.
Right now in the middle of March, when I'm possibly at my palest for the year, I would consider my skin tone a light medium. At this point, the Light Bronzer does not work for me as it is almost exactly, if not slightly a bit lighter, than my natural skin tone; so, I have to opt for the Bronzer shade.
The Bronzer shade, is a beautiful medium bronze, that can be built up to create a darker contour. However, as this product is suppose to create an almost natural glow, I feel as though constantly building up the product might take away from the natural glowing effect. However, that is just my personal opinion and everyone is different.
Also, another downside is that once the warm weather arrives and my skin starts to tan, this bronzer will no longer work for me. I will have the same problem as I did with the Light Bronzer shade; it will be too light or possibly the same colour as my skin tone in the summer months. Therefore, it will not work for contouring or bronzing my skin. The only thing I can see it working for in the summer months, is to possible give my skin a glowing/shimmery effect, but that's all.

Yay or Nay?
If you have fair to light skin tones, than this product is for you. I feel as though both shades would work well for you year-round to provide that bronze goddess glow. However, for everyone else (people with medium to darker skin tones) this product is a no go. Both shades are just too light to provide any sort of bronzing or contouring effect.
While the product does smell amazing and the packaging is beautiful, I wouldn't recommend paying the higher price tag for a single pan bronzer. Especially, while you can get bronzer palettes from E.L.F. Cosmetics or NYX at the drugstore with more shade options and better price points. If Physicians Formula could come out with more shades in the Butter Bronzer line, I would definitely be recommending this product to everyone. It nourishes and provides the loveliest bronze glowing effect, that would make anyone think of a tropical holiday. Yet, with only two shades available this product is a bit of a let down.
So, for anyone with fair to light skin tones out there this is a YAY, but for everyone else, and my official review, this is definitely a NAY!
