Ratings: Looking back over the last three days, here is how we would rank the three meal-kits.
To Subscribe or Not to Subscribe... I think the HelloFresh service is an amazing way to encourage busy individuals and families to cook homemade meals. This service allows people to have a personalized grocery shopper and recipe finder in one, therefore helping to reduce the stress of trying to figure out what to cook each night. With a variety of meal options and plans to choose from, HelloFresh offers its subscribers a wonderful alternative to fast food dining. I would even recommend it to people looking to try new recipes, or who are looking to improve their skills in the kitchen. Now, not every recipe will be a winner for you or your family, but at least the service gives you an opportunity to try recipes outside your comfort zone. For those reasons I would recommend the HelloFresh service, or at least recommend people to give it a try before committing fully. My only issue with the service would unfortunately be the prices. For a family of four to spend $129.99/week for only three dinner meals, seems quite excessive. In comparison, I could buy groceries for an entire week (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for that price, that can make similar homemade meals every single day. Honestly, as much as I enjoyed the service and the excitement of having the box delivered once a week, it just doesn't make sense financially to do so with a family. Now, if cost is not an issue for your family, or as a individual person, I would recommend this service without hesitation. Unfortunately, for families looking to budget and really prioritize where money needs to be spent, this service seems unnecessary. For that reason alone, even though I did enjoy the service, we decided as a family not to continue our subscription following the free-trial week.
